The North Carolina Secretary of State’s Office is in the process of correcting transfer
of entity information oversights, which occurred during implementation of the current
Secretary of State Knowledge Base (SOSKB) system in 1997. The correction will enable
business-to-business (B2B) applications to process smoother, enable future application
changes to be implemented in a timely manner, and eliminate the need for multiple
identification numbers per entity.
The previous system contained information in separate silos for different types
of entities causing many entities to be assigned duplicate Secretary of State Identification
numbers (SOSID). In order that each business entity in the SOSKB system has a unique
SOSID number, it is necessary to reassign a few entity SOSID numbers.
For your convenience a cross-reference Excel spreadsheet is available below. Only
those entities whose SOSID numbers have changed are included on the listing. The
reassigned numbers will be effective as of December 1, 2006. Please make note of
these changes in your records. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Respectfully,
NC Corporations Division
